Estonia becomes the best AI startup ecosystem in the EU
Estonia has retained its status as the leading EU country in AI for the second year in a row, scoring 15% more points than Germany, the runner-up in the Startup Ecosystem Awards. France, Switzerland and Romania also made it into the top five. Estonia ranks 6th place in the world country ranking.
The Startup Ecosystem Awards is an annual award organized by research company StartupBlink. It aims to recognize the dynamics of startup ecosystems around the world.
The Startup Ecosystem Awards winners are determined based on the StartupBlink algorithm, in conjunction with the IBM for Startups program. The data comes from big data platforms such as Crunchbase and Semrush. Ecosystems are evaluated on several dozen parameters: local achievements, industry performance, annual growth, etc.
When evaluating Estonia, Estonia's achievements in the field of artificial intelligence, the number of AI startups working in the country, the amount of funding and the number of jobs in the AI field were taken into account.
Estonia was not the only Baltic country to be recognized by the Startup Ecosystem Awards. Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, retained its status as the EU leader in cybersecurity for the second year in a row, scoring 16% more points than Paris. Vilnius ranks 11th in the global ranking.
