Apple acquires Lithuanian image-editing platform Pixelmator
Apple has acquired Pixelmator, a Vilnius-based developer of image-editing applications for Mac and iPad. The deal is still subject to regulatory approval.
Founded in 2007 by Aidas Dailide and Saulius Dailide, Pixelmator has developed image editing applications for the MacOS and iOS operating systems. One of its applications Pixelmator Pro is designed for the Mac and includes tools for editing and retouching photos, creating graphic designs, painting, drawing vector graphics, and adding various effects, as well as editing colors in images and videos. Another application Photomator is suitable for Mac, iPhone, iPad, and Vision Pro. It includes tools for color adjustments, support for more than 750 RAW image formats, the ability to erase almost any object without a trace and hide the background of an image with AI.
According to the company, there will be no significant changes to its Pixelmator Pro, Pixelmator for iOS and Photomator applications following the acquisition.
