Lithuanian Sort a Brick raises €1.15M

Lithuanian AI-powered solution for sorting old LEGO bricks Sort a Brick has raised €1.15M in a pre-seed round from the lead investor Lithuanian VC and accelerator Firstpick with the participation from nine business angels, including a co-founder of Vinted Mantas Mikuckas. The deal includes €200K from Sort a Brick’s founders Ilya Malkin and Aurimas Slapsys.

Founded in Vilnius in 2023, Sort a Brick offers an AI-powered brick sorting service that restores broken plastic toy bricks. The sorting process works like an automated assembly line. Machines take the set of bricks, clean and sort them identifying and categorizing them by size, color, and shape. The company then designs a new model from the broken parts. If the customer approves a new model, Sort a Brick sends a restored set of bricks back to the customer and provides online instructions.

The startup will use the investment to build up its operations, invest in prototype machines, advanced computer vision, software development, and market testing. Sort a Brick also plans to raise a new round of €2,5M by spring 2025 and expand across Europe. Its first target market is in Germany, where it plans to launch in October.

In late 2023, Sort a Brick raised an undisclosed amount of investment from Lithuania's SOFIGAMA Investments, Vilnius-based IT consulting solutions integrator Reiz.tech, and several Baltic business angels. The investment was provided in the form of convertible loans.

Mantas Mikuckas is a Lithuanian entrepreneur, focused on investing in Baltic companies or European startups with founders of Baltic origin.

Firstpick is a venture capital firm and accelerator founded by the former team of the Estonian accelerator StartupWiseGuys, which operated in Lithuania. The size of the fund is €20M. The initial ticket starts at €50-€200K. The partners of Firstpick are Jone Vaituleviciute, Marijus Andrijauskas, Andra Bagdonaite.
