Estonian medtech startup Certific raises €700K

Estonian developer of a platform for general practitioners and patients Certific has raised €700K from Lithuanian VC and accelerator Firstpick, Estonian Change Ventures, Berlin-based HEARTFELT_VC, and previous investors.

Founded in Tallinn in 2020 by TransferWise co-founder Taavet Hinrikus, Jack Kreindler, and Liis Narusk, Certific has developed a platform for clinics that allows patients to communicate with a general practitioner, nurse, or doctor's assistant. Patients can request a prescription, a medical certificate, or discuss health issues. They fill out a questionnaire to collect clinical information that is sent to the clinic's dashboard. Once the data is received, the staff prioritizes cases based on urgency. According to the company, the platform reduces the time spent on filling out medical records, saves time on consultations (an average of four minutes less), and reduces the number and duration of calls to the clinic, which are 2.5 minutes shorter when using the platform.

The company will use the investment to further develop the product and expand the business into new markets.

In addition to the investment, there have been management changes at the company. Three team members, Helena Volmer, Dr. Andres Lasn, and Keir Volas join founder Liis Narusk as co-founders. Taavet Hinrikus and Jack Kreindler have ended their tenure as operationally active co-founders but remain as advising investors in Certific.
