Karma Ventures makes follow-up investment in predictive security provider BforeAI

Estonian Karma Ventures has made a follow-on investment in the US-French cybersecurity startup BforeAI. The €13,9M Series A was led by US-based SYN Ventures, with participation from early investors Paris-based VC Karista, Spanish Addendum Capital, and new investment from the non-profit organization Partnership for New York City.

Founded in 2020 by Luigi Lenguito and Sebastian Cesario, BforeAI's solution helps predict hijacking, ransomware, malware, online fraud, phishing, spoofing, and impersonation. The startup’s solution maps and predicts malicious domain patterns through massive datasets, analyzing network metadata and establishing baselines to detect anomalies before they turn into attacks. The solution enables security teams to stop attacks before they happen. The company claims to automatically block thousands of attacks every day.

BforeAI uses behavioral predictive intelligence technology PreCrime, which allows it to monitor over 96% of the Internet to stay ahead of cyber threats. As it continues to evolve, it requires less human input and becomes more accurate at detecting anomalies and assessing risk. The startup plans to use the investment to expand into the US market.

Founded in 2016 by Kristjan Laanemaa, Margus Uudam, and Tommi Uhari, Karma Ventures is an early-stage venture capital firm, investing in late seed and A-series European startups. The firm injects up to €5M in the initial round and also makes follow-on investments in later rounds. Karma Ventures first invested in BforeAI in 2022.
