Estonian cleantech accelerator Beamline selected six startups

Estonian cleantech accelerator Beamline selected six startups for its online and on-site three-month program. The startups will receive €60K, including €25K worth of business development services, and mentors' support. The mentors are the CEO and co-founder of Comodule Cristjan Maruste, CEO and co-founder of Sunly Priit Lepasepp, co-founder of Roofit.solar Andri Jagomagi, adviser of the Prime Minister of Estonia as an expert member of the Research and Development Council Heidi Kokko and others. 

Founded in Riga in 2020 by Vismands Menjoks, WinGo Deposit uses AI technology to recognize things for recycling. WinGo designed a bin for recycling vapes, clothes, batteries, and lipsticks, which can recognize and sort many types of microplastics at the same time, even damaged and flattened objects. In addition, it learns to do the same with new types of packages. WinGo has an application-based payback system, and the recyclist can earn digital currency with it.

Tokyo-based in 2020 by Philip Long Phi Nguyen, Sustainability Page designed a platform, that helps small businesses increase their social and environmental impact and business ROI with a database of sustainability initiatives and AI recommendations. The company allows its users to build and manage their sustainability page and information to show the clients, partners, and investors the sustainability efforts of the business. According to the startup, its service can help attract new partners and investors, increase brand image, reach new markets, and so on.

Bulgarian company ExSeed, develops technology for the extraction of sunflower protein isolate from the by-products of sunflower oil production. 

Founded in Sofia in 2021 by Rennie Popcheva-Capri, Solumar developed a machine for direct air, gas, and carbon emissions removal. It has three modules that capture different types of pollutants. The first module removes 99% of any mechanical particle ranging with the help of pressurized atomized water. The second module returns precious materials, such as black carbon, CO2, and metal flakes, to production. It also allows evaluation of the quantity and quality of the water inside the system and cleans it of mechanical contaminants so that it can be used further. In addition, the second module completely dries the air before it enters the third module. The third module captures and stores the CO2 to reuse or resell the CO2 as a by-product. According to the company, the unit is fully automated and saves energy costs. It is possible to control the machine and monitor the quality of the extracted air remotely.

Based in Tallinn in 2020 by Kadi Saks, Leino Schnur, and Toomas White, Igor Maksimov, Futugrid develops smart devices and a platform for the practical use of energy and for supporting a stable grid. Futugrid connects the devices of tens of thousands of households to intelligent software and can turn off certain electrical devices for a short critical time. This process does not cause inconvenience in everyday life and influences the electricity balance in the country.

Founded in Amsterdam in 2020, Cyan Reef is an investment platform, which offers impact investing and governance services. The users can manage their wealth and allocate investments in impact-generating assets. Examples of impact investing are climate impact companies, renewable energy, agriculture and nutrition, and carbon credits.

Launched in 2021 in Estonia by Indrek Kedler, Karl-Joosep Pärtel, Kadri Piho, Erki Ani, and Trin Vilvere, Beamline accelerator has invested €2,5M in 89 cleantech startups. Apart from €60K, Beamline provides €100K direct follow-on investment to the best teams after finishing the program. The accelerator is a subsidiary of a non-profit organization for early-stage cleantech startups Cleantech Estonia. It provides incubation, acceleration, and connections to investors, partners, and the public sector. Among acceleration companies are Estonian SaaS solutions for managing electricity consumption Fusebox, Vok, an Estonian startup that offers solutions for solar metal roof modules Roofit.solar, an Estonian producer of oils and fats made of by-products and side streams Aio, a Latvian company that specializes in nano-coatings and new materials to produce hydrogen Naco Technologies and others, and others.
