Baltic countries ranked among the 40 top best countries to found a startup, according to the StartupBlink Global Startup Ecosystem Index 2023. Estonia became a leader among the Baltic countries and got the 14th position. It is followed by Lithuania, which is in 17th place, and Latvia appeared 39th in this rank.
Taking the top 1000 cities rank, Tallinn became a leader among Baltic cities and got 60th place. Tartu received 356th, and Viljandi - 946th. Tallinn was awarded 14th position among the cities in the world for its successfully operating startups in the marketing and sales and transportation sectors.
In 2022, Estonia saw 141 deals, compared to 159 in 2021, with $1,5Bln of investments, compared to over $1,1Bln in 2021.
The capital of Lithuania Vilnius got 73rd place. Kaunas appeared in 178th place and Klaipeda - in 769th. Vilnius also became 73rd on the list of cities with successfully operating startups in the e-commerce and retail sectors.
In 2022, Lithuania saw 42 deals, compared to 74 in 2021 with over $457M of investments, compared to over $313M in 2021.
Riga is in 173rd place and 82nd on the list of cities with successfully operating startups in the ed-tech sector.
In 2022, Latvia saw 34 deals, compared to 31 in 2021, with over $32,3M of investments, compared to over $19,9M in 2021.
