Estonian venture fund Trind vc exited its portfolio company Chatchamp

Estonian venture fund Trind vc made an exit from its German portfolio company Chatchamp, in which it had invested in 2019. The startup was acquired by German personalization platform trbo. The amount of the deal is undisclosed.

Chatchamp uses artificial intelligence in its chatbot, which advises and helps users find the right product online faster. It gives recommendations to the user by matching his profile with the company and product-specific knowledge.

Trbo offers solutions for onsite personalization, optimization, and testing. With the help of its AI-based platform, website content and offers can be designed individually in real-time, according to the needs of customers. With the acquisition, trbo is going to expand its existing product portfolio by providing an improved guided selling module. The solutions of the two companies will be available as separate products.

It is the second exit for Trind vc's Fund I. The first exit was from Finnish Saas platform Taimer at the end of 2019. The amount of the deal amounted to €5M.

Trind Ventures is an early-stage venture company established by Joel Aasmäe, Ivar Siimar, Kimmo Irpola, and Taavi Lepmets in 1999. In September 2022 the company closed Fund II with a capital of €55M. It aimed to invest in 30–40 startups in four years. The fund is backed by institutional investors such as European Investment Fund, Tesi (Finnish Industry Investment), LHV Pension Funds, and Swedbank Investment Funds. Fund II has already invested in Barcelona-based event management software Xceed, Estonian platform for buying and selling second-hand fashion goods Yaga, and Spanish home services marketplace Webel. The initial ticket is €100K-€1M.
